Reasons why people lie

People often lie but I don't know why. I heard that lier is really but word for natiue speaker, so we shouldn't say "You lier" I don't want to lie but I sometime lie. Maybe It is for protecting myself or pretending to be cool. I don't think it is good idea, so I wanna liue honestry with my feeling.
